Brunswick Community History Group (BCHG) is a community-based organisation interested in the history of our local area. BCHG is interested in all aspects of history – research, reminiscences, families, historic buildings, documents, and photographs.

Through our members, BCHG aims to
- Foster a greater appreciation of Brunswick’s history and urban environment
- Increase community access to information about Brunswick’s history and its people
- Promote research into and publication about Brunswick’s history and urban form
- Encourage the preservation of historical materials and places
[edit] What Does BCHG Do?
BCHG’s activities depend on the interests and enthusiasms of its members. To help achieve our objectives, BCHG involves itself in
- research projects
- encouraging and assisting of individuals to research the aspects of local history of interest to them
- assisting researchers by preparing guides, bibliographies and indexes to local history materials
- gathering information on Brunswick’s history and make it available to our community
- advocating the retention of important buildings, streetscapes, features and landmarks of Brunswick
- encouraging community-based history projects, including school projects
- publishing a wide variety of local history information

These publications are available through BCHG, with a limited selection at Brunswick Library (Dawson Street, Brunswick) and Information Victoria (Little Collins Street, Melbourne).

Membership of the BCHG is open to all residents, former residents, and other interested persons and organisations.
[edit] Meetings
We meet on the first Saturday of each month in the Mayor’s Room, former Brunswick Council Chambers, corner of Sydney Road and Dawson Street, Brunswick. Entrance is via the Counihan Gallery on Sydney Road.
