Northcote origin of suburb name

Image:Northcote.jpg Northcote is named after Baron Henry Stafford Northcote, who served as Governor-General of Australia from 1904 – 1908. Northcote became a borough in 1883 and was proclaimed a town in 1890. It was proclaimed a city in 1914.
